Committed to contributing regularly to the local community, a team from Crown Mexico recently visited Hogar Marillac, a local retirement home. Vania Legorreta proposed the visit and Crown volunteers eagerly joined in. The team learned about the history of the home, founded in 1970 by a group of women, and took a tour through the comfortable facilities.
Spending the day with the elderly residents was a joy for the volunteers; they listened to stories about the residents’ lives before and after living in the home, about their families, about new friendships made in the home and what life is like now that they’re living with their contemporaries.
At meal time, the Crown volunteers helped serve the meal, assisting those who had difficulty feeding themselves. At the suggestion of Alicia Del Valle, volunteer coordinator, the Crown volunteers brought ice cream for dessert. What a nice surprise for the residents! It was their favorite part of the day’s meal.
The happy faces and grateful words from the residents made the Crown Mexico team feel thankful for the day.
