As expats, we like to discover other cultures and take advantage of our time abroad. If you are an expat in Europe, or about to become one, you might want to know the best cities to explore.
Crown Relocations has chosen some amazing cities to discover this summer, no matter whether you enjoy the hustle and bustle of city life or a peaceful and scenic town. Let’s check them out!
Barcelona
Surrounded by hills and sea, Barcelona is one of the top destinations in the Mediterranean. A lively city, with unique architecture – who hasn’t heard about Gaudi’s work and the Sagrada Familia? – and plenty of sunny beaches, Barcelona is one of the most diverse and cosmopolitan cities in Europe.
If you're looking for a sunny destination with a busy, urban feel, then Barcelona is your choice.
Budapest
If you want to be away from beaches and the sea, but still visit a lively and sunny destination, you might want to consider a weekend in Budapest. The capital of Hungary, located on the shore of the Danube, has everything from castles and museums to thermal baths, not to mention an attractive nightlife.
The Danube divides the city in two but it also defines this city. To explore it, you can take a guided boat tour around the river or, even better, a dinner cruise at sunset.
Dublin
It is known across the world for its Guinness brewery, but Dublin has so much more to offer, come rain or shine. With narrow, cobblestone streets, painted houses and spacious public parks and gardens, Dublin is best discovered in summer, when the days are longer and the weather warmer.
Visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Guinness Storehouse or do a stopover in one of the city’s museums, such as the National Gallery of Ireland or the Museum of Modern Art. However, if the weather allows it, it's always a good idea to enjoy the National Botanical Gardens or Dublin’s Zoo – especially if you're visiting the city with children!
Stockholm
If warm weather is not your top priority, then you should consider Stockholm. The Swedish capital offers a unique combination of new and old, tradition and innovation. Do you want to visit a museum? An open-air one? A ship museum? A more conventional art museum? Or maybe the ABBA museum? Stockholm offers you all this and more!
