For those of you looking to make a move in 2016, HSBC’s Expat Explorer Survey highlights the top five overall destinations ranked by expats.
So, what can you expect if you’re thinking about moving to…
1) Singapore
Called “The Garden City” and “The Lion City,” Singapore is very much a multi-cultural, multi-racial, multi-religious city where over five million people live in perfect harmony. One thing that often strikes visitors is its cleanliness and abundance of wonderfully landscaped gardens.
2) New Zealand
Starting a new life here isn’t as difficult as it might be in other places, especially as there aren’t any language barriers to overcome on arrival! Newcomers just need to become accustomed to the laid-back lifestyle the country is famous for. The scenery is stunning, the cities aren’t crowded and the miles of beaches have to be seen to be believed.
3) Sweden
Considering its northern location, the weather in Sweden is fairly temperate. However, you’ll find the summer months are short and the winter is long. It might take a while to get used to the lack of daylight in the winter and vice versa in summer. But if you’re a fan of cold-weather sports then this is the place for you.
4) Bahrain
A small island off the coast of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain has a population of around 1.2 million people. Its modern infrastructure and great selection of shopping malls and restaurants mean you shouldn’t miss too much from home.
5) Germany
Home to around 82 million people, Germany has one of the highest immigrant populations in the world. It has a rich history in the arts, especially when it comes to music. Visiting the opera and theatre are still popular activities, and you’ll be sure to find beautiful locations to attend these throughout Germany.
