Before taking the decision of relocating, one needs to invest plenty of time in getting to know the destination. Housing market, cultural insights and lifestyle…. And costs. Unfortunately, estimating your living costs abroad is not an easy job, as it depends on many factors, such as living style and preferences. The good news is that there are some surveys which can give you pretty accurate estimations of what you can expect. One of them is Mercer’s Cost of Living Survey, which measures the comparative cost of more than 200 items in each location, including housing, transportation, food, clothing, household goods, and entertainment in over 400 cities worldwide. According to the latest Mercer’s survey, the less expensive cities for expatriates are Tunis, Bishkek, and Skopje while the most expensive ones are found in Africa, Asia, and Europe. Luanda, the capital of Angola, is on the top of the most expensive list, followed by Hong Kong, Tokyo, Zurich, and Singapore. Would you like to know more about your destination?
